Pictured to the left is a George Foreman grill. This is a "lean mean fat reducing grilling machine". It is a miraculous invention that takes 8 minutes to grill burgers while allowing the fatty juices to drip off into a convenient dishwasher safe fat collecting tray. It puts the M in Masculine.
And THAT piece of equipment is Reed's new grill. I got it for him on his birthday and we've been enjoying grilled food without the luxury of an outdoor grilling set.
When I asked Reed what we should post about this week he thought for maybe 4.5 seconds and said with a big smile on his face "grilling!". So here we are posting about our grilling experiences this week. Reed hadn't seen one of his best friends, Andrew, in a very long time so he invited Andrew and another friend, TJ, over for some hamburgers on Friday night. We had so much fun! Andrew brought a Boston Cream Pie (he knows how to bring a gift for the hostess... =) ) and Reed was master of the grill. We used some new steak seasoning that really enhanced the grilled goodies. Once the hamburgers were ready we enjoyed assembling our burgers and eating them messily while chatting with buddies.

Let It Snow
In case you hadn't heard already....It SnOwEd!!!! =D We got eleventy-five inches (that's what Reed says) which translates to roughly eighteen inches. haha Sunday it started sprinkling down and then Monday and Tuesday we got 6 inches total. Then on Wednesday night we got dumped on. When we woke up we were sunk into all that snow! Thursday night brought a deep freeze so driving to work was like driving on a skating rink. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it's been raining and melting the snow away. Now we've got power outages related to downed trees on power lines. We're also expecting a huge amount of flooding. Reed and I were lucky and only had short power outages (24 hours-ish) compared to those around us (who are going on 5+ days).
So the first picture here illustrates the weight of the snow and ice on the trees. If you stopped and listened you could hear trees falling and branches cracking...very eery! Reed watched a huge tree branch fall right where a car had been seconds earlier. The second picture gives you an idea of how deep the snow got. That house is about two miles from my house. Snow is so pretty!!!!
The first few days of the week I drove myself to work in my Honda Civic which went really quite well. I say he (my car is a male named Vuong...I'll make a post about him soon) is secretly a four wheel drive because he was doing so much better than other trucks and cars. Thursday got a little scary so Reed offered to drive me to work in his gigantic Dodge Ram truck....he's my snow angel! He woke up at 4am Thursday and Friday so that I could get to work and take care of the crazy people who opted for elective surgery in this blizzard. He's exhausted now but we both felt better about me being safe. Now we're just hunkered down in front of the fireplace and enjoying movies and board games. (Thanks Sondra for Ticket to Ride!)
So that's our big excitement for the week....tune in next week for more shenanigans! (In case you missed the memo, I will always post on Sundays. I may choose to post in the middle of the week too but Sunday is the day to check back for updates. =) )

Reed's Birthday
This was the week of birthdays!!! This was the only picture from the whole week so it's what you get to see. The young man in the striped shirt is Reed's roommate Grant who had his surprise birthday on Friday. Anyway, Reed's birthday was on Tuesday and we celebrated over two days. On Monday we had lunch with his mom and then volunteered at Rochester Primary School. We worked with the "High Readers" group in kindergarten...each child got to read a book aloud to us and we helped with new words. When we went back to one classroom a little redhead boy (that had spent a substantial amount of time struggling to pay attention) came running up to Reed and gave him a ginormous hug. My favorite kid was a little girl with chubby cheeks and glasses perched on her nose. She knew every single word and was able to sound out the tough ones. Then on Tuesday we went to my mom's house where we had dinner and I gave him his new George Foreman grill. He picked it out the other day when we were at Fred Meyer and the grill was sitting there just begging us to get it. So then when I tried to decide whether it was an appropriate gift he asked if we should call some of his buddies to ask what they thought of me buying a grill for his birthday. I was thoroughly convinced after he said it was an ultimate manly item. Thursday we made burgers on his new grill!
Shirts Jumping Over the Moon? Ridiculous!
This post is actually from Meghan. She hacked into Reed's account (with permission from Reed) and also his heart (quoth Reedimus) and sent herself an invitation to become a VIP authorized user on his hacked into account even though I had permission to hack into his account in fact he wrote his password in and everything so really it wasn't anything close to hacking but it still sounds cool to say I was hacking because that would mean that I have mad skills like the cow on Reed's t-shirt that is jumping over the moon but I mean that the cow is jumping over the moon not the t-shirt is jumping over the moon because t-shirts can't jump over the moon because they don't have legs only arms. haha
