Apparently I am not the only person on earth who knows that the world revolves around Reed.  The official Reed Fan Club keeps getting bigger and bigger.  The president of the fan club's Olympia chapter is Deklan.  One day we were over at the Bahrtzoo for dinner and Deklan was refusing to eat vegetables of any kind.  Then Reed walks over and dips a cucumber wheel in ranch dressing and goes "MMMM these are some of my favorites!"  Instantly Deklan asks his mommy if he can have some of "Reed's favorites" too!  He dips a cucumber wheel in ranch just like Reed and takes a bite and proclaims "these are my favorites TOO!" Now we can get the fan club members to eat anything as long as it is proclaimed "Reed's Favorite".

At my work, each room contains a whiteboard.  The purpose of the whiteboard is to increase communication with patients and give a place for the patient to write important questions, etc.  Honestly the boards are a bit of a pain because of where they're located in the room and the slightly irrelevant sections on it.  When I explain the board to the patients I say, jokingly, "if you don't have any questions or concerns then just draw a cool picture or write a clean joke" and we all laugh and move on.  Well, my patients family member was super bored apparently and took me up on that challenge.  Here's the result....

The Story of a Procrastination Professional

I have come out of blogger cryo-freeze early!  This means that, once again, I submitted a huge project just in time for the deadline.  I have a history of saving things to the last minute and it usually produces pretty good work. 

Homework or Disneyland...tough choice

For example: my last term ended on September 21, 2012.  That particular date happened to be the day we flew home from our two week honeymoon in California and Las Vegas.  Do you think I got all my homework done before we left on vacation?  Nope!  Rather I took the entire day of the 20th and spent it starting and finishing the project. That project earned one of the highest grades of that term. 

This term I had my big final project that's a culmination of all the work and research I've done over the school year.  The project is due on the 21st and on the 15th I finally got approval to do my work on campus.  On the 18th Reed and I performed the research and I went home and got to work.  I just submitted it an entire 24 hours ahead of deadline.  Here's hoping for a good grade!

Now for one more small class and then I graduate!  May 2013 is the projected date of graduation and I'm pretty sure I'll make it.  Now I get to focus on being an awesome wife for my awesome husband! 

PS.  I'd like to warn everybody.  Procrastination DOES increase stress and I wouldn't recommend it.  However, I don't see myself stopping the habit anytime soon....it's on my list though.  haha

Han Solo, RN

New blog posts will come on March 25, 2013.  Until then I am placing this blog in cryo-freeze...Han Solo style.  Only if Han Solo were freezing his blog until his nursing practicum was finished. That's silly because Han Solo isn't a nurse.  BUT wouldn't it be cool if Han Solo blogged?  He'd be all griping about Chewbacca's hair clogging the Millenium Falcon's shower drain.  haha  Oh man, I just had an idea for a blog post series.  :-) 

Surprise!

Reed and I are signed up on the Redbox text message club because once a month or so they send us each a coupon for a free movie rental.  It's always awesome to get those coupons because then we get to catch up on the latest and greatest movies in the movie world.  On the 5th of March (the ten month anniversary of our marriage!!!!) one of our favorite movies came out....Wreck-It Ralph!!!  We watched it back in November with our nieces and nephews that live in UT and NV and were completely amused by the colorful graphics, tributes to classic games, and hysterical one-liners.  So, when we got free Redbox coupons today we were excited to rent Wreck-It Ralph.  We looked online and there was no evidence of the movie anywhere so we settled on Hotel Transylvania and Ice Age: Continental Drift.  Reed gave me his credit card (muahaha  I will spend all the monies!) and coupon code and I trotted off to the grocery store. 

 Upon arrival, I browsed the kiosks selection and on the first page was WRECK-IT RALPH!!!!!  I almost did a little dance because I was so excited!!!!  With excitement in my heart I picked up my cellphone to tell Reed that I was substituting one of the movies for Wreck-It Ralph.  With my hand on the speed-dial button I decided that this was a perfect opportunity to surprise my hubby.  So I entered his code and swiped his credit card.  "Yippee!" I thought to myself.  Oh how surprised and happy he will be!

I returned home and was hit by strong urges to tell Reed about my awesome find at the store.  But I resisted!  Willpower is NOT my talent.  So I told him a funny story about my trip to Wal-Mart yesterday in order to divert my attentions.  He never suspected a thing.  My plan was to turn on the movie and have it show the Wreck-It Ralph menu screen and have him be all like "wow, Meghan!  How did you find it?  You're the bestest most awesomest girl in the whole wide world!!!" and I'd be all like "shucks, thanks!" and then we'd watch the movie together happy as clams. 

Reed got online and checked his emails.  The first one was a message from RedBox.  "Thank you for your purchase!  Enjoy watching Wreck-It Ralph" the email said.  Reed goes "you got Wreck-It Ralph?!?" and I throw my hands in the air in mock anguish and fling myself on the couch dramatically.  "No!!!!" I wail, "that was supposed to be a huge surprise!!!".  Reed laughed and said it was definitely a huge surprise and that he's really impressed that I didn't blurt out my surprise earlier.  haha

And yes, we had a great time watching Wreck-It Ralph.  Meanwhile I learned a lesson...when trying to surprise your spouse make sure NOT to use his credit card!  ;-) 

Pizza Panini

Here at the Jacobsen household we love pizza.  That Italian now American-ized pie is part of our history and we are always looking for excuses to eat pizza.  So, today I was making our usual grilled sandwiches and opened the fridge.  Right next to the lunch-meat was pepperoni and I thought "hmmm, that might be yummy on a sandwich".  So I placed strips of mozzarella on wheat bread and topped the concoction with pepperoni. We dipped the completed sandwich in marinara sauce and Reed liked it a lot!  I like cooking for Reed!  :-)

Reed's head is quite good at growing hair.  It grows fast.  And thick.  And curly.  And did I mention it grows fast?  Well, we'd been putting it off long enough and he finally got a haircut last night.  By the time we were done, our floor looked like many small animals had donated their hair to balding people.  Our plans for the mass amounts of hair is to create a foundation where excess hair is donated to bald people so that they can dump it down their shower drains and get stopped up drains just like normal people do. We're quite the philanthropists.

Samson's Visit to the Doctor

Samson is Reed's truck.  He's a handsome and strong truck with lots of experience in off-roading, hauling things, and doing other manly things.  Now that gas is three million dollars per gallon we don't drive Samson as much as he's used to.  He sits in our driveway and watches the hippies walk by.  On Wednesdays Reed drives him to the church which is less than a mile away and so he gets a little exercise.

Earlier this week though, Reed's mom asked to borrow Samson for a long drive to Elma and back.  Oh how happy was Samson!!!  He vroomed his engine and splashed mud. (Not really, but that's probably what he felt like doing)  In preparation for that long drive, Reed took Samson in to the doctor.  Samson's oil change was due and this was the perfect time to get it done.  Samson had fun at the appointment.  He tried very hard to hold still while they were changing the oil which is apparently a ticklish process for Samson.  Then he waited in expectation for the lollipop that doctors give after appointments.  But it turns out that they don't give lollipops because they're unhealthy now.  Instead he got a sticker from Jiffy Lube that he put in his upper left hand corner of the windshield.

Samson is now ready for his long trip!
