Sunday Update

Hello friends!

Just a little update on the recent happenings with us.  We've been super busy and are hoping that eventually things settle into routine.

Monday through Friday Meghan worked away at her new job.  Two new employees came on and they are super nice.  Their names are Amy (an office manager) and Heather (a surgical tech).  It's nice to have some time to get to know them although all of us are anxious and chomping at the bit to start patient care.  People in management have said very good things about Meghan's work ethic and attitude which of course makes Meghan feel very happy.  She was afraid that nobody would like her there!

Reed worked throughout the week in the media room at our new apartment.  (They have wi-fi there).  He made a ton of progress on client work and on his stock analyzer.  Everything's coming along nicely and he's happy with how things are going. He's been making friends there at the apartment complex as well.  Of course the office staff love him but everyday one of the residents comes and bothers him like all day.  Her name is Shelley and apparently she used to be a prostitute.  Now she's heading up a program to help get current prostitutes out of the life.  She's a little crazy but harmless.  The other day someone was mentioning how it seemed she'd made a new friend (referring to Reed) and Shelley responded "yeah, but he's married".  Reed's response = GROSS!  Meghan's response = hahahahaha

During the week was our niece's birthday party and we had fun singing the Happy Birthday Cha Cha Cha (she wanted us to do a cha cha wiggle in between each sentence of the happy birthday song), eating cake and watching her open presents.  She was a very cute birthday girl.  At her birthday party we got to hang out with Tommy's sister and brother-in-law as well as Reed's dad.

On Saturday we did our big move into our apartment here.  With Tommy helping us the project went so incredibly quickly.  Thank goodness for that because holy CRAP it was hot out!  So we hurriedly dumped all our stuff into the apartment and then Reed took off to get our mattress and piano.  While he was gone I unpacked as much as possible and oh it felt so good.  While unpacking I cranked the air conditioning so that it was like 60 degrees in the house.  Yes, it was too cold but after the heat exhaustion I'd developed it felt M-Azing.  Reed came home and was impressed with what I'd already gotten done.  We went and celebrated with pizza dinner and then watched a movie together.

Sunday we headed to our new ward.  Meghan felt super nervous because the last time she was in a new ward she was eleven years old and didn't really care too much.  The moment we walked in we were greeted by the Elders Quorum President and one of the bishopric members.  We mentioned we were new in the ward and the bishopric guy goes "do either of you play the organ" and Meghan grinned and he goes "oh my gosh, we've been praying for a new organist to move into the ward!".   Looks like I'll have a built in calling already.  Then we sat down behind a young couple who moved into the ward last week so we chatted over that and Meghan thought they were very nice.

And those are pretty much the highlights of our week.  We cannot wait to get some routine and consistency going but for now we're just celebrating being in our new place together!  We miss all of our WA friends and family but are very aware of the blessings and miracles that are occurring while we are here in Vegas.

Love, The Jacobsens
