Our Disneyland Adventure 2015

I have absolutely no idea of where to start this week's blog post!  There's so much and it was all so magical!  This week, Reed and I went to Disneyland and California Adventure.  We spent three days and had non-stop fun the whole time.  It turns out that we picked the absolute most perfect time to go because the weather was mostly perfect and the crowds were quite light.  Mr. Cody Wigglebottoms cooperated through the whole drive and didn't overheat.  We did baby him but he still performed like a champ.

The Army Men from Toy Story were so funny
Radiator Springs Racers...my hair was CRAZY
Toy Story Mania...I finally beat Reed!

Day One:  We woke up early, packed the car, and headed to California.  It took us four loooong hours to get there.  We spent 17 dollars for parking (holy balls!) and then headed in to California Adventure.  It was raining and windy and miserable!  Ugh.  We headed to Monsters, Inc. because it's an indoor ride.  Once we got out of the ride, the rain had stopped and blue skies were all we had the rest of the day.  Hooray!!!  Now that the sun was out, we went straight for the most popular ride; Radiator Springs Racers.  Using the single rider line we were able to bypass a really long line and spent only ten minutes waiting to get on!  We used that method for the rest of the day and even got to walk straight on to the CarsLand ride at one point.  Our favorite rides were the Radiator Springs Racers, Goofy's Sky School, and Toy Story Mania.  We also got to watch the Pixar Play Parade which was even better than it was two years ago.  Slinky's butt was hilarious (part of one of the floats involved a person dressed as the last half of Slinky from Toy Story)....he even waved at me!  We also went to the Aladdin play.  That's one of the best parts of California Adventure.  We sat next to a mom and her young son and he freaked out when he saw the elephant come in the room and walk to the stage!  It was adorable.  My favorite quote from that play was when the genie was like "omg hashtag Ugly Sultan.  Tweet".  haha  You had to be there.  Anyway, we ate dinner at Paradise Pier and had hamburgers, chicken nuggets, and french fries.  Best fries ever! At the end of the day we went and bought our only souvenir of the experience.  We fell in love with a pack of Disneyland posters so we plan on using them to decorate the family room in our home soon.  :-)

Reed's first time on the Tower of Terror
After the park closed, we headed to our hotel.  It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't anything that I'd recommend highly.  The carpets smelled super sketchy and there were some weird puffy spots on the walls.  But hey!  It was a place to sleep and the people were super nice and the food was super yummy at breakfast.  For our needs, it was perfect.  :-)

We met Donald Duck!  Yes, I know, my eyes are closed
Space Mountain

Day Two:  We headed back to California Adventure to spend the day with Reed's sister and her family!  We'd already done every ride the previous day so we just followed along and enjoyed the day.  My favorite part of the day was when I would go on rides with Addy.  She wanted to hold my hand during each ride...even during the fast drops.  Her face after one drop took her by surprise was so hilarious!  She had this look of terror in her wide eyes and her mouth was open in a huge silent scream!  Afterwards, she was like "that was the best ride ever!" and was jumping up and down and couldn't hold still.  It was adorable.  :-)  Graham carried around an Astro Blaster toy and had a great time blasting random objects and people.  Lilly and Anna took Reed on the California Screamin' roller coaster which I refused to go on.  Reed really liked that roller coaster.  One of the highlights of the day was when we ate lunch at Ariel's Grotto.  (Reed likes to call it Ariel's Ghetto).  It's a character dining experience so we had delicious food AND got to meet five Disney princesses!  They each came to our table and chatted for a minute.  My favorite was probably Belle but we also got to see Ariel, Mulan, Tiana and Cinderella!  Reed and I ordered the tri-tip with mashed potatoes, salad, and steamed vegetables. Dessert was a delightful s'more thing, creme brulee, and a chocolate covered strawberry.  Delectable!  We're both really glad that we took the extra day with the Doxey family.

Day Three:  I woke up with a terrible sore throat and other sicky symptoms.  Great.  So, I took some meds and we pushed onward.  No way was I going to miss our Disneyland day!  At Disneyland we made a beeline for Indiana Jones' ride.....it's the only ride I've never been on since it was closed last time we went.  It was AWESOME!  Again, the crowds were like nothing so we barely had any waiting times.  We did FastPass a few (Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain) but that was just to ensure a five minute wait as opposed to a 15 minute wait.  Space Mountain is still my favorite.  I did finally try a Dole Whip!  It was super duper yummy and pineapple-y.  Reed had a funny story from when he was in the bathroom.  Some dad had to bring his 4 year old daughter (who was dressed as Elsa from Frozen) in to use the bathroom and she was singing at the top of her lungs "Let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, snow bothered me, let it go, let it go, let it go".  She hit the highlights of the song at least.  haha  Little kids are so adorable in the park!  My absolute favorite moment from the whole day was when we were eating lunch at Tomorrowland Terrace (chicken sandwiches with avocado salsa).  The Jedi Training Academy was going on...they randomly pick kids out of the crowd and train them to battle Darth Vader.  Then Darth Vader and Darth Maul appear and fight the kids.  IT IS SOOOO CUTE!!!!!  This little girl with pig tails was so scared of the gigantic Darth Vader but she fought him and was super excited when she "beat" him.  haha  It was truly the absolute perfect day!

Meeting Ariel in her Ghetto
So that summarizes our Disney adventure.  I loved every minute of our days there and I think Reed had a really good time too.  We laughed a lot and had a great time talking and people watching.  (PS.  The pictures from when we met the princesses will come later....they're on my sister-in-laws phone)

Dessert....yummmm
